EPISODES

Ryan comes on the show and drops some bombs halfway through the episode. He details how Crupi started, as well as some of the challenges his family faced. We also talked about our sponsor in common Main Bikes. Going into the trivia challenge my record was 2-5. I was hopeful that I could improve my record. However, Ryan was a worthy opponent.

Danny & I share stories of our experience at Dirtyfest 3.

Danny & I were fortunate to have the opportunity to sit down with Mark Jackson and talk BMX. Mark has been in the game since 1990 and he is still going strong. Mark shares everything from it taking him 5 years to turn expert, to turning Pro. During his time racing, he also worked in a couple bike shops in the Bay Area where he sold a lot of GT's. He even rode a 20' BMX bike from San Francisco to Ventura in 2 days. Even though Mark is a little younger than us, he was down for a game of BMX trivia. My record going into the game was 0-4. Was I able to improve my record? Let's just day that the contest went down to the last question.

San Diego native, Shane Wimberly, joins us on the show. If you are from the area, there is no doubt that you remember how fast Shane was. He goes through his story of dicing it up with some huge names at the local track, as well as on the national circuit. However, before that, we answer the question I asked several months ago. Who was the most famous celebrity to race BMX? Some of the contenders may surprise you. After our conversation with Shane, we play a friendly game of BMX trivia. Up until this point, I had not won a single contest. Did I have the knowledge to go up against Shane and win? You have to wait a couple days. As always, I was joined by Danny Pena who was gracious enough to put the questions together. Thanks to Danny & Shane for their time. Without them, I would not have as much fun as I do!

John recently obtained a copy of the first issue of BMX Action. Since Danny reviews old BMX magazines, John wanted to share it with us. We go through the magazine page by page and comment on what we find. It was very cool go back in time and reflect on where the sport came from. John also shares a fascinating story of the original cover. We all know that the rider on the first issue of BMX Action was Brian Lewis. However, there was a different rider that was initially intended to get the cover. Although we don't know why a change was made, John does share the original rider's name, as well as the original cover art.

Kent shares his opinion on the importance of family support to be successful at BMX racing. We also talk about his missed opportunities to get on factory teams due to his hesitant parents. Additionally, Kent shares his secrets to a successful trading regime to include weight lifting & vegetarianism. Finally we talk about his infamous battles with Gary Ellis, Clarence Perry, and Harry Leary. Not to mention his infamous 205 mm one piece cranks.

Danny & Kevin cover a lot of ground in this episode. Life in Seattle as a mid pack Expert, dirt & lake jumping, trespassing, staying out of trouble, music, and how the sport of BMX affected our lives.

John comes on again and we talk East coast BMX.
